No, you don’t get to choose (or MAKE) your own heaven or hell. Just as you were not able to make your own life measure up to your own expectations of perfection— (you had no control over where and when you were born, and if you are honest, you’ve  really had little control  over your life , else you’d be rich, famous, and invincible! )— you have no power over where you will go in the afterlife. GOD is the maker of Earth and Heaven, and these places are FIXED and true for all people. We cannot make a reality out of our own imaginations. “What Dreams May Come” is fiction, it was an invention by the author, Richard Matheson— and while men may have the power to imagine, they don’t have the power to create the realms they have imagined.

Besides, men tend to imagine things they want to believe. Men want to believe that after death they will have the power to manipulate reality, which is absurd,  considering how little they have been able to affect or manipulate reality in their daily, ordinary lives.

We must remember that heaven and hell were created for a purpose by the Creator— to give all people a chance to  prepare for the afterlife. The idea that men can manipulate the afterlife to suit their own purposes is insulting to the Creator, who created things as they are for his purposes. God’s purpose is to be able to judge men, not indulge all their fantasies.

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

Ecc 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. Ecc 12:14  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.
